Another day, another disaster...

So, yesterday was our news day on Baby Bennett IV's kidneys. It should have rounded off as a good day because, although the kidneys were still pronounced, they had not ballooned which means no surgery immediately before or after birth. Instead, we will have another ultrasound in the weeks following baby's arrival to make sure everything is okay.

Afterwards we grabbed a late lunch - I got a beautiful vegan salad from Ruby's Organic Cafe (in Stirling) and celebrated that I should not have to see the Obstetrician again now and that it is me and my home birth midwife the rest of the way.

Capernwray - a week of refreshment!

Oh, what a joyful week that past last week. Along with spending so much time around water in the form of lakes, rivers, rock pools, waterfalls and the beach we have been wash with The Word too. Yes, we have spent the week at Capernwray Bible School for their Refresh 2010 conference with the theme: 'How is your soul? - Reflections from the Psalms'.

We were in Canberra...

Just a place-marker to say that we were in Canberra from 2-9 January 2010. More about that later as it is late now. Lest to say we had a great, relaxing time!

The aftermath...

What else can I say? We survived Christmas 2009 relatively unscathed! Yes, that is something to be happy about.

Food on all accounts, with both sides of the family, was great. No one was injured in the preparation of it either which is a bonus. (Trips to St Andrews on Christmas Day with burns just can't be fun. I still shudder at the thought of that day in 2007).

Odd household tasks - tell me what you do!

It is that time of year for me where my attention is focussed on those household tasks which I less commonly practise. Tasks like removing cobwebs, tidying up the yard (fire hazard reduction), and sorting out accumulated odds and ends from around the house. It occurred to me tonight, whilst hand-washing the ash-covered backside of a soft toy that maybe there are other odd jobs that I have never even thought of doing around my house - so I had to ask...

What odd household tasks do you find yourself undertaking?

To my Canberran friends...

Hi all!

Well it's been almost 6 months since we left Canberra now so I thought I'd drop in an update as to how we all are on the family front.

New_House="bought"

Yep, it's official!! Our cooling off period is now over, so I guess you can say that we have officially bought a new home!

No, it is not in Canberra but, rather, in Adelaide - the next chapter for our family as our lifestyle and career directions make some major changes. We look forward to reconnecting with old friends back there and getting to make some more of them too as a result.

These photos were not taken by us either. It is likely, in fact, that we will not actually see the home until very close to settlement. So, how safe it is to buy a house off the internet? Be sure to ask us after settlement!

Oh, and sorry, no baby news yet!! It's meant to snow here tonight, tomorrow and Thursday so I am hoping baby decides to snuggle in close until it has passed!

Home, Sweet, Home

We'll the drive home was an awesome time to reflect on the weekend. After dropping Rusty and MD at the airport it was just me and my thoughts all the way home.

The weekend was really awesome and I certainly appreciated the break from the kids. But when all was said and done, when the meals were finished and drinks were consumed there was still the little empty piece of my heart. I guess my family really was one of greatest contibutors to fulfillment in my life.

I love my family heaps and was *really* glad to be home.

Refugees of Yard Clearing

I didn't realise that we had so many praying manti. After the clearnace work they were everywhere on the building, in the few remaining bushes, all over the fly screens and the occasional refugee that makes it inside like this one.

New Phase: I hate mornings!

And I thought waking up to knawed loaf of bread was bad! Yep - the bobcat moved into the yard way too early this morning and was driven by "Fabio". (I kid you not!) I guess this means that our renovations and extensions will be happening soon - either that or I simply live in hope!
