Rock Climbing @ Mitchell

So, whilst in Canberra we thought we'd throw down the gauntlet with an unfamiliar indoor rock climbing wall. With William to young and me too pregnant to belay, leaving Michael out also we threw the challenge to Karl and Peter. Both did their best and we couldn't be prouder of each of them.

Karl is not certain with heights. He has a healthy fear and has not yet learned how to trust the rope or the person controlling them. He strived for his best and achieved it.

Peter, our child without fear, who climbed quite scarily fast as the Scout's wall at the Royal Adelaide Show, showed his true colours once more and conquered one of the wall sections with ease. I was so inspired that I animated it all for you!

Without a doubt both were exercises in parenting that encouraged and supported through fear, doubts, confusion and indecision. We learned more about ourselves as parents than I think we did about the character of our children - which we know so well! It was a great afternoon rounded off by something cold and refreshing from a freezer as we said our thank you to the staff and headed on our way.
