Opening the door to the backyard...

The one thing about learning is that it can happen anywhere and that often, for our children it is happening right under our noses. It happens to us often right in our very own backyard. However, since we were in Canberra and in the house that a generous family had given us use of the learning moved to their backyard instead!

It is amazing the discovery that can happen over the arrival of a moth that is taking an interest in what you are hanging on the line. It does from a thrilled shriek from the mouth of a two year old to talking about the characteristics of a moth, then comparing it to that of a butterfly as well as other insects. It is amazing to see them learning from some of the most simple lessons of life!
